Fix USB Root Hub

Step 1: Open Device Manager. Under Universal Serial Bus controllersoption, go to USB Root Hub option and right-click on it and choose Properties.

Step 2: Now go to Power Management tab and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option. Then click on OK to save your change.

Step 3:  If you have more USB Root Hub, then you need to repeat this process a couple of times. Remember to press on OK option after every perform.

After the settings, plug your flash drive back in to the system if your system is able to detect it now. If your flash drive is still not working, then check Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power back on.

Change Power Supply

Step 1: Open Control Panel, select Hardware and Sound and then go to Power Options.

Step 2: Now click on Choose what the power button does

Step 3: Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.

Step 4: At the bottom, you will uncheck Turn on fast startup option and then click on Save changes button.

Step 5: Now, restart your system and again plug the flash drive to see if it works.

Device Manager

Step 1: Open Device Manager

Step 2: Under Action tab, choose Scan for hardware changes and see if Microsoft could help you fix the problem.

Change the USB Selective Suspend Settings

Step 1: Open Control Panel and choose Power Options.

Step 2: Click on Change plan settings.

Step 3: Now, click on Change advanced power settings.

Step 4: Find and expand USB settings and expand USB selective suspend settings.

Step 5: Disable both On battery and Plugged in settings.

Now, click on Apply and OK to save the settings.

Update Drivers

One of the most common ways to solve such problem is to check if your system needs a new driver for your device. You can try to use Windows Update to find the latest driver, but Microsoft may not provide you with every driver that you need.

Here is how you can find the driver using Windows Update.

Step 1: Open Device Manager

Step 2: Under Universal Serial Bus Controller, go to Generic USB Hub and right click on it, and choose Update Driver Software.

Step 3: Then choose Search automatically for updated driver software and wait for few seconds.

Step 4: Scan to see if the Unknown USB Device is gone.

If not, then it is suggested you to repeat the process to every USB driver.

Step 5: Restart the system.
